Meet Recap

Oh my! All year the Placer Varsity boys have been close at numerous invitationals which were also being run by powerhouse programs of Vista Del Lago and Rio Americano. At those invitationals it was usually Rio and VDL finishing 1 & 2 and Placer usually 3rd or 4th.

Even at the CIF Sub-Section meet on Nov 5th those 2 programs defeated Placer and finished 1 & 2 while Placer finished 3rd. The one thing that most people forget is that during all of those invites Placer was never at full strength. They either had an injury or someone was missing due to another comitment. It all came together on Saturday at the section championship race at Folsom HS. Placer jumped ahead of both of those schools and maintained their positions fighting off numerous threats by the Rio and VDL runners. Sophomre Jesus Reyes had the race of his life as he was the #1 Placer finisher for the first time this season and placed 5th with a PR time of 16:45. He was follwed closely by PVL MVP snior Ryman Crone 16:53 and sophomoreConnor Ryan 16:54 who finished 6 & 7th. Sophomore Jesus Carrasco ran a 17:13 to finish 13th and Wesley Morroe with a 20th place finish ran the 3 mile course in 17:41. Brendan Moley was 28th with a 18:01 and Riley Black with a 18:19 finished 35th. The Section Champion HIllmen with 5 sophs and 2 seniors advance to the state chamionships in Clovis on Saturday Nov 26th.

Congratulations Hillmen on your Section Title. This is Placers 2nd section title this fall as Golf won the D4 title earlier this month. Placer now has 71 section titles which ranks #4 amongst all the 200 schools in our section.
