Placer clinched the PVL title with a 62-55 victory over the Courgars at a loud and proud Earl Crabbe gym on Friday night. The Hillmen had to come from behind after trailing at the end of the 3rd quarter 40-41 but had a big 4th from Jeremy Lillis with 8 points, Kai Huntsberry with 12 of the Hillmens 22 fourth quarter points.
Placer improves to 23-3 on the year and 8-1 in PVL play. Placer has a 2 game lead over Foothill( 6-3) and Center (6-3) with one more game to play at Colfax on Wednesday 2/15.
This is the 3rd straight PVL title for the Hillmen.
Placer was led by Lillis with 21 points and 16 rebounds along with Kai Huntsberry with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Ferreira also chipped in 14 poits. Brendyn Ikeda had another great defensive night as he held Centers leading scorer, TJ Caldwell, to just 6 points all coming in transition in the 4th quarter. The Hillmen are currently ranked #9 in the Sacramento Bee and are listed as a #4 seed in the MaxPreps D3 rankings.
Placer will host a home playoff game on Wednesday Feb 22 at 7:00.
